I am blessed. I am married to a gorgeous woman, I am the father of four wonderful daughters and I live in a beautiful place between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea near the edge of the world. After 30 years of employment including stints as barman, lifeguard, actor, cycle messenger, business owner and IT spook for a EU government agency, I now manage call centers for local government in New Zealand.
I am a Christian who wandered away from faith only to return to belief years later so, as Augustine said, I might understand. I attend a small rural church but, as part of an small intentional men’s group/house church/family network, I strive to live my faith daily in my workplace, my friendships and my devotions. As a family, we serve by helping run a ministry for intermediate-age youth, supporting two daughters who perform with a Christian dance company, giving through World Vision NZ and various other projects.
I have been mucking around online since Compuserve first hit the UK in the early ’90s. Blogging in one form or another ever since, bignoseduglyguy.com is the longest-lasting incarnation of such efforts After meeting Chuck online, I worked with him for a few years on a website for Palm users. In 2005, I emigrated to New Zealand and blogged about the experience for the first two years at ‘Looking for No.8 Wire’, and when I’m minded to, occasionally write about food at ‘Big Boy’s Brunch’.
