There can’t be many who haven’t heard of Bear Grylls, especially as his adventures take him to the farthest-flung corners of this planet.  As the adventurer/presenter of Man vs. Wild, Born Survivor and Worst Case Scenario, Grylls has become the familiar face of extreme survival and adventure on our TV screens. However, you could be forgiven for not knowing that Grylls has a deep and abiding lifelong faith in God, though he was profiled in Relevant magazine a few years back and interviewed on stage at Hillsong last year.  My wonderful family gave me a copy of Bear Grylls’ biography Mud, Sweat and Tears for Christmas and, as you would expect, it is crammed full of exciting adventures from his younger days and action-packed career.  However, it is his faith, raw enthusiasm for life and his abiding love for his wife and children that sets this book apart from other similar books.  If you’re looking for a gripping story of how a loving family, faith and self determination have shaped a man’s life, you need look no further.
